Paul Kedrosky over at Growthology makes an interesting point about how an abnormally large number of students in entrepreneurship classes are actually more interested in becoming venture capitalists than entrepreneurs. The numbers he cites aren't necessarily convincing, but I agree with his premise -- something needs to be done.
Personally, I believe that if the goal is to have more entrepreneurs there needs to be more popular books, movies, and shows made about entrepreneurs. The truth of matter is many people try to aspire to those they respect and admire. Thus, perhaps the Kauffman Foundation should put some of its hefty endowment toward finally making the Atlas Shrugged movie a reality. If it were made well, I have no doubts it would have a profound impact on lots of people -- more than any entrepreneurship class or tax incentive could ever have.
